The basic course for prevention advisers comprises six training days, which enable future prevention advisers to take up the position in so-called C and D companies with limited risk. The training is also aimed at members of the hierarchical line, SME managers, vocational training teachers and anyone who wants to play an active role in prevention policy.

Contents

The contents comply with the provisions of the Code on Well-being at Work, book II, title 4 on training and the Code, book II, title 1 on the internal service for prevention and protection at work. The training includes the following lessons:

  • Legal framework
  • Prevention management
  • Risk analysis
  • Costs and benefits of prevention measures
  • Division of tasks within the company
  • Health surveillance
  • First aid and emergency planning
  • Fire and explosion prevention
  • Health risks and sustainable employability
  • Psychosocial stress: stress, burnout, bullying and moral or sexual harassment
  • Physical stress and ergonomics

The lessons are very practical and reflect the immediate reality of the prevention advisor. The numerous practical examples and exercises are very recognisable and can be incorporated into daily tasks.The course concludes with a practical case study.

Planned dates in 2026: 2/3, 9/3, 16/3, 23/3, 13/4 and 20/4.

The course is aimed at members of the line management, SME managers, vocational training teachers and anyone who wishes to play an active role in prevention policy.

Classes are held weekly, except during school holidays and public holidays. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch break between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Classes are held in Leuven, Kolonel Begaultlaan 1A/51 (fifth floor), a 10-minute walk from the station. The Academy promotes public transport, but there is paid parking Vaartkom nearby. 

Invoicing is carried out by Prevent nv, Kolonel Begaultlaan 1A, 3012 Leuven - VAT BE 0845 552 265. Cancellation is free of charge up to 1 week before the start of the course. 

As a recognised training provider, Prevent Academy accepts the SME e-wallet for training (KMO portefeuille registration number DV.O214764) and training vouchers as payment. The SME e-wallet is a measure whereby SMEs receive financial aid when purchasing training courses or advice, cf https://www.vlaio.be/en/subsidies/sme-e-wallet.

This course is eligible for Flemish training leave (Vlaams Opleidingsverlof) and Brussels educational leave (Brussels educatief verlof). Private sector employees can, under certain conditions, attend training courses while retaining their salary, while employers can receive a flat-rate reimbursement.
