Monitoring Central to Prevent's monitoring activities are projects in which measurements are done. On the one hand these are projects in which the measurements themselves are done using certain analytical existing or self-developed instruments. On the other hand these are projects in which existing data collections are used as a basis for the analysis. The monitoring projects are the basis for a Belgian Risk Observatory on Well-being at Work. The aim is to gain a view of the past, present and future with regard to well-being, health and safety at work in order to describe the trends and detect new emerging risks. The development of the European Risk Observatory
In 2009 Prevent conducted the following monitoring projects for the European Risk Observatory of the Topic Centre OSH.
Literature overview on the self-employed
This literature overview outlines a comprehensive picture of the measures applied in various member states to gain more accurate data on industrial accidents and occupational diseases among the self-employed. This report should ensure that policymakers approach this issue more efficiently.
Accidents and emergency situations
This project of the European Risk Observatory aims to indicate the current state of knowledge relating to the occupational risks of employees and emergency services. It indicates where the deficiencies are and where there is a need for future research and new safety measures, in order to form a basis for further projects and debates.

Safety culture at the workplace
In 2003 a Scandinavian research team developed the Nordic Safety Climate Questionnaire (NOSACQ), an instrument for diagnosis and intervention in order to evaluate the status and development of the safety culture in an organisation. Prevent has been given permission to apply the questionnaire to Belgium and is conducting a validation study of the Dutch and French versions of the questionnaire. After validation, the questionnaire will be incorporated into the consultancy offering of Prevent.
